Questions
Is TrakNotch free?
Yes, the download is free. If you connect an AI provider, their API charges are billed to you separately. A ChatGPT subscription doesn't include an OpenAI API key.
Do I need to set up AI?
No. The notch, coding-session activity and service panels all work without an AI provider.
Where are my credentials and data kept?
Credentials are stored in Windows Credential Manager. Questions, chat so far and any files you choose go only to the AI provider you selected; service checks go directly to the services you configured. Chat history stays in the app's memory, and dropped files are copied to a local inbox folder.
What can each service panel do?
Panels are read-only and check on a schedule, not in real time. See the table below for exactly what each one shows, and the setup guide for the access each needs.
Does it update automatically?
Not yet — the update feed hasn't been switched on. To upgrade, quit TrakNotch from the system tray and run the latest installer. See the release notes.
How do I uninstall it completely?
Uninstalling keeps preferences, inbox files, stored credentials and hooks. Follow uninstall and cleanup to remove them.
