When Apple put a notch in the MacBook screen, developers quickly turned the dead space into something useful: a place for music controls, timers and quick glances. Windows never had one — but the idea behind it travels well. The top edge of the screen is the one place nothing else lives.
What makes a notch useful
- Always there, never in the way. Collapsed, it's a small shape at the top of the screen.
- One hover away. No Alt+Tab, no taskbar hunting.
- Glanceable. It's for quick checks and quick questions, not long sessions.
What TrakNotch puts in it
TrakNotch is our free notch app for Windows 10 and 11. Hover the top of your screen, or press Ctrl+Alt+N, and it expands into:
- Ask — questions to Claude or OpenAI with your own API key, with file drop for context.
- Coding sessions — Claude Code and Codex activity and approvals through optional hooks.
- Service panels — read-only checks on Resend, n8n, Vercel, GitHub, Stripe, Notion and Cal.com, only for the ones you switch on.
Built by a small studio
TrakNotch comes from TrakCorp, a founder-led studio in Norwich that builds bespoke software and websites. We built it for our own desks first. It's in public beta — see the release notes for what's changed.
Try TrakNotch
TrakNotch is free for Windows 10 and 11 (x64). It's a beta, so we'd love to hear what works and what doesn't.
